Mr Luke Wiedeman
Assistant Principal (Secondary)
Following University graduation with a degree in Sport and Exercise Sciences and completing my PGCE in the U.K. I worked for 5 years at a secondary school in Birmingham. I developed as both a Head of Department and a Head of House, improving the pastoral provisions of students and also being accountable for raising attainment within my house to ensure the best outcomes for students. As Head of Department I was responsible for improving teaching and learning across my department and the multi-academy trust, sharing good practice and also leading on the teacher training programme for new teachers. During this time, I was awarded the Olevi Outstanding Teacher Award for my contributions. I moved to Dubai in 2018 and have worked at GEMS National School since then, developing excellent relationships with our students initially as Head of Department and more recently Head of Pastoral Care improving our attendance and behaviour procedures to ensure the very best progress and attainment for our students. I am really looking forward to starting my role as Assistant Principal for Secondary to help ensure your child gets the highest quality teaching and learning in the classroom and feels safe, secure and happy in our community.
