Mr Gareth Cooper

Gareth has 10 years’ experience working in schools in the UK and the UAE, 6 of those here at GNS where he will continue his role as Assistant Principal in Primary this year. Gareth started his career as a class teacher in Hull, England before making the move to Abu Dhabi to pursue further opportunities in teaching and leadership. Gareth has developed his leadership skills throughout his career and held multiple Head of Year and Head of Key Stage positions, leading him to his current role as Assistant Principal, where he specialises in the pastoral care of students in Primary and their experience at the school.

Gareth is committed to the improvements of GNS and is dedicated to his role as a leader within the school, having completed is National Professional Qualification is Senior Leadership (NPQSL). The pastoral care of students and their wellbeing is an area of student development that Gareth is passionate about and shares best practice with colleagues to ensure they are aware of te most upd to date educational research and impactful strategies to ensure students have the best possible experience at the school.

In his spare time, Gareth enjoys exercising and playing sports including football and golf and has a passion for travel, exploring the world and experiencing new cultures. Gareth looks forward to welcoming back students returning from their summer vacation and meeting new joiners for this academic year full of hard work, independent learning, opportunities and kindness.
